Firm Profile
At IM/KM Architecture and Planning, we design modern architecture in harmony with nature—architecture that responds to the conditions of the site, respects ecological limits, and enhances the natural systems it inhabits. Founded by Ivan and Kristin Morales in 2008, our practice weaves together innovative design, sustainable land use, and a deep respect for place to shape spaces that are both beautiful and restorative. From the wild coasts of Panama to the evolving fabric of urban Miami, we work within fragile ecosystems—partnering with communities to deliver architecture that is economically resilient, ecologically grounded, and socially meaningful. We believe beauty is inseparable from responsibility, and that architecture can be a powerful tool for healing land, honoring culture, and shaping a more sustainable future.
MISSION
To create architecture grounded at the intersection of environmental conservation, restoration, and design.

Studio Tlalli is our furniture studio, based at Reserva Panamaes in Panama, with a dedicated sub-site showcasing our collections: Studio Tlalli. While IM/KM and Studio Tlalli operate as distinct entities, they are united by a shared vision, aligned values, and integrated leadership.
IM/KM is an architecture and planning firm that takes on complex, site-sensitive projects and collaborates with Tlalli to produce custom contract furniture for architectural installations. In parallel, Tlalli offers a curated collection of one-of-a-kind pieces for the consumer market.
Together, the two studios operate at the intersection of conservation and design—generating work that aims to deliver meaningful social and environmental impact.
Reserva Ecológica Panamaes is a 560-hectare (1,600-acre) private ecological reserve located on the Pacific coast of Panama. We developed and continue to manage this reserve as an extension of our architectural practice, in close collaboration with our clients in Panama. The project is an integral part of our approach to site-responsive design and land stewardship, and is documented extensively on our website: Reserva Panamaes and on our blog.
